How to Replace a Toro Recycler Drive Belt

A slipping or snapping drive belt is one of the most common DIY repairs on Toro Recycler and Super Recycler mowers. Here’s how to swap in an OEM belt like 115-4669.

If your Toro walk-behind mower won’t drive forward under load, or the belt squeals and smokes, the drive V-belt is often the culprit. On RWD Recycler and Super Recycler models, the genuine OEM part is commonly listed as 115-4669 (also cross-referenced as 38991).

Before you start, disconnect the spark plug wire, park on a level surface, and tip the mower carefully per your model’s service notes. Photograph the belt routing so you can reverse the steps when installing the new belt.

Remove the drive cover or belt guards, release tension as needed, and slide the worn belt off the pulleys. Compare the old belt length and width to the new OEM replacement before installing.

Route the new belt exactly as shown in your model diagram, reinstall covers, reconnect the spark plug, and test the self-propel drive at low speed first. If tracking still feels loose, re-check pulley alignment and belt seating.
